Do Not Resuscitate

Bail out the newspapers? It was inevitable that the democrats would
suggest it
. After all, the main stream media has been in the tank for the Democrats for years. The interesting question is: did the fall of newspapers begin when they threw impartiality out the window, or did they throw impartiality out the window as a desperate attempt to stay relevant in an Internet world?

Either way, it’s time for The New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, the LA Times et al to fold up shop and go away. Alienating a wide swath of readers with “news” stories that are nothing more than dressed up editorials probably wasn’t such a good idea. I completely understand why the Democrats would want to keep these mouthpieces going. Perhaps the idea might be to put them under one government agency, and call them National Public Newspapers – NPN. A sister organization of National Public Radio? There IS a certain symmetry to the insanity.

From my own perspective, I am one of the last remaining subscribers to the Boston Globe. I read it to gain some perspective on how long these dinosaurs have left. I figure it’s just a couple of months now, unless some spare taxpayer billions can be diverted to keep them afloat and dependent on (and supportive of) the government. For local information, it’s pretty easy and free to go here if you live west of Boston: Wicked Local. For national news, there are hundreds of good sources of information, depending on the topic of interest. For sports, ESPN.com is a good place to start. It’s a world wide web world, it’s time to stop the presses.

So write your congressmen, tell them to let the newspapers die a
quiet death
. Do not resuscitate with taxpayer dollars.

  1. Who says that conservatives don't think Green...think of how many trees will be spared!

NPN seems like a good name, maybe bring back the Pravda name.

Seems like the great Messiah is already laying the groundwork for the new "Information Ministry" under the guise of bringing "Press Conferences" into the 21st century; carefully rehearsed "Town Meetings" streamed online with "selected" puff ball questions in a very controlled environment so that the Messiah can campaign for his policies directly to "The People". All sizzle and no steak...

I am way too uncomfortable where we seem to be headed...Even the FRENCH are telling us how to run our country...

I'm having my new T-Shirts delivered soon, they say "Just remember....I Voted NOBAMA"

    When's the next Tea Party?
